Here is the list of the 20 local government areas in Nigeria with the highest cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The list was released in a recent report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and it showed that the Lagos Mainland council has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,274.

Following behind Lagos Mainland are Abuja Municipal council with 536 cases, Mushin Local Government Area in Lagos with 458 cases, Eti-Osa Local Government Area in Lagos with 403 cases, and Tarauni in Kano State with 248 cases of COVID-19.

The report said 7,276 confirmed cases (74 percent) have unknown sources of exposure, giving credence to heightened community transmission.

The report was shared before the confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country shot up to 10,578 after the NCDC confirmed 307 new cases on Sunday night and 416 new cases on Monday night.

According to the NCDC, the male accounted for 67 percent of the cases and female 33 percent.

As at Monday, June 1, only Cross River State had not recorded a confirmed COVID-19 case. The report put the Cases Fatality Rate (CFR) at three percent.
