AGF Malami, SGF Mustapha In Emergency Meeting With Emefiele At CBN In An Attempt To Force Him To Resign

At the Central Bank of Nigeria, Governor Godwin Emefiele is currently meeting with top government officials.

According to People’s Gazette ,Attorney-General Abubakar Malami and Federal Cabinet Secretary Boss Mustapha are among those attending the meeting at the bank’s headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting’s details were not immediately disclosed, but a senior official said it was related to an attempt to force Mr Emefiele to resign from office and negotiate his release from the State Security Service.

The SSS attempted to arrest Mr Emefiele recently, but the plan was thwarted by two court orders that forbade such drastic measures against a man in charge of the nation’s monetary policy and regulations.

Mr Emefiele had been stuck between the UK and the US for weeks, according to The Gazette, and was attempting to seek asylum in either country.

It was unclear why Mr Emefiele returned to Nigeria, given that he had previously vowed to stay away until President Muhammadu Buhari provided a clear guarantee of his safety from the SSS, which had continued to threaten him over allegations of economic sabotage and terrorism financing.
