Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Ceases Operations in Nigeria Due to Unforeseen Circumstances

Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing, previously recognized as the largest syringe manufacturing enterprise in Africa, has officially halted its operations in Awa, located in the Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, Aso Naija gathered.

The company, which established a presence in the South-south region of Nigeria in Awa and was inaugurated in 2017 by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has cited “unforeseen circumstances affecting our business operations” as the reason for its departure from Nigeria.

Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Limited, owned by Onur Kumral, a Turkish national, was among the numerous industries attracted to Akwa Ibom State by the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

A memorandum announcing the company’s exit was issued to its employees. The company had already ceased production several months ago but officially declared the end of its operations on December 31, 2022.

The memorandum, entitled “Temporary Redundancy – Service Not Needed Till Further Notice,” was signed by the Managing Director of the company, Akin Oyediran. It stated that the company had to “implement temporary measures to ensure the long-term sustainability of the company.”

In part, the memorandum read as follows: “We hope this message finds you in good health. It is with great sadness that we inform you of the challenging decision that Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company Limited has had to make due to unforeseen circumstances affecting our business operations.

“After careful consideration and a thorough evaluation of our current business situation, we regret to inform you that we must implement temporary measures to ensure the long-term sustainability of the company.

“Unfortunately, this includes placing all positions, including yours, on temporary redundancy, effective January 1, 2024. We want to emphasize that this decision is not a reflection of your individual performance or dedication to the company. The challenging business environment in which we find ourselves has compelled us to take these difficult steps. Please return all company belongings that are in your possession. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during these challenging times.”

FG has disbursed N25,000 each to 3.5 million Nigerians — Dr. Betta Edu

The Federal Government has paid N25,000 each to 3.5 million Nigerians under the conditional cash transfer scheme, minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Betta Edu said, Aso Naija Reports.

She said this on Thursday on Channels Television’s Politics Today, two months after President Bola Tinubu’s administration launched the scheme targeting 15m vulnerable households as part of moves to cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

“We have so far paid 3.5 million Nigerians N25,000 each. Of course, we are out on the field and covering another 4.5 million in the next one week so we will have altogether close to about 8 million people between now and the end of the year,” she said.

According to her, the ministry verified the first trance of the beneficiary and is still in the same process as the scheme continues. She said the list is being expanded to accommodate more people like retirees.

“A total of 480 persons are on that list. They are presently undergoing their in-person verification because if we cannot verify who you are and where you are and that you are below the poverty line, you are not qualified to be on that social register,” the minister said.

Away from the scheme, Betta Edu said the government is paying arrears to N-Power beneficiaries.

They were being owed some months’ salaries by the former President Muhammadu Buhari government.

“Presently, a payment for N-Power is ongoing; we were in the office yesterday up until the early hours of this morning, just to ensure that young people get monies which they have been owed from the last government,” she said.

“So, N-Power beneficiaries across the nation, I am sure you can attest to the fact that you are seeing your money in your accounts and this process will continue until the last person who indeed has served is being paid. And of course, all of this is being restructured to ensure that we reduce unemployment and create jobs for Nigerians.”

Phyna invited by police over her failure to return a rented wig to vendor

Former Big Brother Naija winner, Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has been invited by the police over her alleged failure to return a rented wig to a wig vendor, Aso Naija Reports.

Recall that a hair vendor recently accused Phyna of renting a wig from her and refusing to return it after the agreed-upon date.

Phyna initially denied the allegations, but later said that she returned the wig after she was called out but the hair vendor rejected it. She added that she decided to keep the wig because the damage the hair vendor did to her was more than the price of the wig.

Updating her fans, Phyna said the hair vendor visited her house with police when she was not around and dropped a letter for her.

Phyna said, “Yesterday, my younger sister called me and said I’ve visitors in my house. I asked who they were and she said two policemen, the hairstylist and one woman. I asked who the woman was but she said she doesn’t know the woman. “

And they dropped a letter. Because it’s from the police I want to know what to do. It reads, ‘This is the Nigeria Police. Invitation to the police.’ They now put my name, my address. Then it continued, ‘From the DPO Nigeria Police Ogudu.’ I don’t know where Ogudu is, but I will find out.”

She added in another post: “In this life make sure them nor patronise your enemies for you oh…”
