Egypt Sentences 16yrs-Old Female TikTok star to one year imprisonment over “Immoral” TikTok video
Lady undergoes imprisonment in Egypt over a dance video she posted on TikTok.
The teenage girl, identified as Nancy Ayman who is popularly known on TikTok as Mocha Hijazi, was reportedly charged to court for gross indecency.
Her lawyer, Mina Nagy, had appealed the one-year sentence but the court refused and sustained it.
It was gathered that her photographer, identified as Moaz M., was also charged to court and sentenced to three years imprisonment with a fine of 100,000 Egyptian pounds ($5,300).
He was accused of sexually exploiting the minor by making her film and post videos of herself in revealing clothes on social media with the aim of making money.
This move comes amid the ongoing crackdown on social media posts deemed immoral and sexually provocative in the country.
Egypt, a country linking northeast Africa with the Middle East, dates to the time of the pharaohs.
