Gennaro Gattuso has stepped down as Napoli manager after a 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona on Sunday night keeping them out of next season’s Champions League.
Napoli started 4th knowing they needed a better result than Juventus against Bologna to secure a place.
However, Gattuso’s side fell to the middle of the table in Verona as they could only get a draw, while Juventus won 4-1 to overtake Napoli in the Serie A league table.

Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed Gattuso’s departure on Twitter, as he posted: “Dear Rino, I am happy to have spent the last two seasons with you.
“Thanking you for the work done, I wish you success wherever you may go.
“I also send a hug to your wife and children. Aurelio De Laurentiis.”
