Residents protest the fuel scarcity and new Naira note scarcity, Vandalizes Bank in Ibadan, Oyo State
A protest has broken out in different parts of Ibadan over the hard economic situation in Nigeria.
According to sources, the angered residents are protesting the fuel scarcity and inability to access the New Naira notes at various banks.
Additionally, in several videos that have surfaced online, residents can be seen seen burning tyres on the streets, destroying a bank’s building etc.
In one of the videos, residents can be heard advising motorists not to bother driving on the road tomorrow.
Ibadan is the capital and most populous city of Oyo State, in Nigeria.
Also, it is the third-largest city by population in Nigeria after Lagos and Kano, with a total population of 3,649,000 as of 2021, and over 6 million people within its metropolitan area.
It is the country’s largest city by geographical area.

However, At the time of Nigeria’s independence in 1960, Ibadan was the largest and most populous city in the country, and the second most populous in Africa behind Cairo.
