Access Holdings Appoints Bolaji Agbede as Acting CEO Following the Passing of Herbert Wigwe

Access Holdings Plc appointed  Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer following the unfortunate passing of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, Aso Naija Reports.

Dr. Wigwe, along with his wife, son, and three other passengers, including Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), tragically lost his life in a helicopter accident.

The helicopter, identified as a Eurocopter EC130 by the US Federal Aviation Administration, was en route to Las Vegas.

The Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc made the announcement on February 12, 2024, in response to this unexpected turn of events.

Ms. Agbede, who currently holds the position of the most senior founding Executive Director in charge of Business Support within the company, has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading Access Holdings Plc as the Acting CEO, pending the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

This transition marks a significant moment in the company’s history as it confronts the challenges posed by the sudden change in leadership.

Ms. Agbede possesses an impressive professional background spanning nearly three decades, with a career that includes extensive experience in banking and business consultancy services.

However, her journey began in 1992 at Guaranty Trust Bank, where she steadily rose through the ranks and assumed managerial roles by 2001.

In 2003, she took on the position of Chief Executive Officer at JKG Limited, a reputable business consulting firm.

In 2003, Ms. Agbede joined Access Bank Plc as an Assistant General Manager responsible for managing the bank’s portfolio of chemical trading companies.

Her exceptional leadership qualities and strategic insights led to her appointment as the Head of Group Human Resources at the bank from 2010 to 2022.
