The election, which took place on Saturday, was marred by delays in the arrival of materials and personnel to 13 wards in Okitipupa council area of the state.
In a statement issued by Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, the Chairman of the Ondo Primary Election Committee and Governor of Kogi State, the party announced the rescheduling of the election for Sunday, April 21, 2024.
Additionally, the primary election was conducted by a seven-member committee, led by the Governor of Kogi State, with 16 governorship aspirants participating in the exercise.
According to the statement, the Primary Election Committee received reports from the 203 wards in the 18 local governments of Ondo State.
It was decided that the election would be conducted in all 13 wards of Okitipupa Local Government, which have a total of 9,515 registered members.
The party cited the late arrival of materials and personnel as the reason for declaring the primary election inconclusive in Okitipupa Local Government.
The final collation of the results will be done after the rescheduled election takes place.
Earlier, SaharaReporters had reported on alleged irregularities in the governorship primary election, with some stakeholders accusing the committee, led by Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, of bias in its handling of the process.
Addressing the aggrieved stakeholders at the distribution center in the Ijapo area of Akure, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo confirmed that the electoral materials had been sent to the Ondo South and South-North Senatorial Districts, but the materials for the Ondo Central District were still pending as of 10:30 am on Saturday.
