The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of one of its officers following the tragic death of a businessman named Emmanuel Michael Okocha in Aba, Abia State, Aso Naija Reports.

The incident occurred during a routine stop-and-search operation when the officer allegedly fired a fatal shot at the victim.

Reports indicate that Mr. Okocha refused to offer a bribe to the officers, despite possessing a valid vehicle license.

In a statement released by the Abia Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, it was confirmed that the Abia State Police Command is fully aware of the incident and its subsequent circulation on various online platforms.

Preliminary investigations have identified the officer involved as Police Corporal Obagi Njok, stationed at the Abayi Police Division under the Abia State Police Command.

The shooting took place along Aba-Owerri Road.

The apprehension of the officer has taken place, and appropriate disciplinary measures have been set in motion.
