Student Sentenced to Six Months in Jail for Gas Cylinder Theft in Jos

Magistrates’ Court delivers verdict and offers fine option as a deterrent to future offenders

Twenty-four-year-old student Ayobami Analowo has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment by a Jos Magistrates’ Court for the theft of a gas cylinder, Aso Naija Reports.

The case was reported to the “A” Police Station in Jos on March 2 by Abraham Godwin, the complainant. Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, the Prosecution Counsel, stated that the convict unlawfully entered the complainant’s residence and stole the gas cylinder.

During the course of the police investigation, the stolen item was found in Analowo’s possession.

The offence is punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code Law.

Upon entering a guilty plea, Analowo was given an alternative to pay a fine of N20,000 by Justice Shawomi Bokkos, who emphasized that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.
