Three People Lost Their Lives While Trying To Retrieve Phone Inside Pit Toilet

A heartbreaking accident claims the lives of a father, son, and a courageous rescuer.

In a tragic incident, three individuals lost their lives while attempting to retrieve a cellphone from a pit toilet, Aso Naija Reports.

The deceased included a 60-year-old Nigerian man named Malam Danjuma, commonly known as “Black,” his 35-year-old son, Ibrahim, and a 35-year-old individual named Aminu Gaye.

The confirmation of this unfortunate event came from Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, on Sunday, April 21. The emergency call notifying the authorities of the situation was received from Tsanyawa Fire Station around 11:00 a.m. The report indicated that four men were trapped inside the pit toilet.

According to Abdullahi, Danjuma found himself trapped while attempting to retrieve the cell phone that had fallen into the pit toilet. In an attempt to rescue his father, Ibrahim entered the pit toilet but also became trapped within. Observing the perilous situation, Gaye and Alasan courageously entered the pit toilet to rescue both men. Regrettably, they too became trapped.

Abdullahi reported that the first three victims were rescued in an unconscious state, while the fourth victim was successfully saved while still alive. The Kano State Fire Service handed over all the victims to Superintendent of Police Iro Lado at the Tsanyawa police division.

Following the rescue operation, the victims were transported to the Bichi Special Hospital for medical attention. Tragically, the attending doctors pronounced three of the victims deceased, while one individual remained alive, albeit in critical condition.
