Double Homicide Shocks Anambra State: Brothers’ Bodies Discovered in Car Trunk
The brothers, known as Onyema and Nonso, are believed to have been victims of a heinous crime while returning home after attending a church program along Oguta Road, near Upper Iweka in Onitsha.
Initially, a graphic video showing the bodies in the trunk circulated on WhatsApp on January 28, leading many to mistakenly believe that the victims were a married couple. However, it was later confirmed that the bodies indeed belonged to the two brothers.
A clergyman named Venerable Emmanuel Onovo, who is based in Aguleri, shared on his Facebook page that the deceased brothers were members of the Anglican Communion in the state. Onovo also mentioned that the brothers had been part of the Anglican Children’s Ministry in Omogba, Onitsha, several years ago. He reached out to their parents to offer prayers and support.
Another Facebook user expressed their sorrow over the tragic event, describing it as a result of internal conflicts within the Igbo community. According to their account, the brothers had attended a church program on Oguta Road, Onitsha, only to be found in the trunk of their car at Umunya junction. The incident has deeply saddened the community.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear, although there are speculations that the brothers may have been targeted in a kidnapping attempt.
