Gunmen Abduct Pupils and Teachers, Demand N10 Million Ransom Per Victim

The Gunmen responsible for the abduction of the students and teachers from the Apostolic School in Emure-Ekiti have made contact with their parents and are demanding a ransom of N10 million for each of the victims, Aso Naija Reports.

On Monday, January 29, at approximately 5 PM, the school bus carrying the students, teachers, and driver was seized in Eporo-Ekiti, located in the Emure area of the state.

Investigations reveal that six pupils, three teachers, and the bus driver were abducted and taken to a forested area.

According to reports from Tribune, a reliable source within the community stated that on Tuesday, January 30, the kidnappers reached out to the parents and relatives of the victims.

They demanded a ransom of N10 million for each of the ten individuals in their custody as a condition for their release.

Additionally,  sources mentioned that the victims were taken captive after their school bus was intercepted in Eporo-Ekiti, at a location near the border with Ondo State, while they were returning home from school.

However, the source also shared that one of their tenants, whose wife and child were among the victims, received a call from the kidnappers on Tuesday afternoon.

Subsequently, the kidnappers threatened harm to the victims if the parents failed to promptly raise the requested sum of N10 million for each individual.

The situation has caused confusion and apprehension in the area.

Parents have appealed to both the state and federal governments, as well as to security agencies, urging them to ensure the safe return of their children.

It is important to note that this incident occurred on the same day that two traditional rulers were fatally shot by gunmen in the Oke-Ako axis of the Ikole Local Government Area of the state.
