EFCC Freezes N30 Billion Linked to National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) Funds
This action was taken shortly after the suspension of Halima Shehu, the embattled National Coordinator of NSIPA, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
An anonymous source revealed that the EFCC, as part of an ongoing investigation, has frozen multiple accounts through which certain NSIPA officials had transferred funds.
The agency conducted extensive interrogation and account profiling, leading to the discovery that an unauthorized N44 billion had been suspiciously moved from NSIPA’s account to various private and corporate accounts.
Halima Shehu, along with NSIPA’s former Director of Finance and Accounts, Bwai Adamu Hamza, was interrogated by a special team from the EFCC. In connection with the alleged fraud, Shehu was detained and arrested, while Hamza, who retired from the agency in December, was also apprehended.
After successfully tracing the movement of the funds, the EFCC managed to recover and freeze the N30 billion that was found in multiple accounts.
