Subsequently, the announcement was made through a press statement issued by Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, the State Commissioner of Information, on Tuesday.
The statement reads as follows: “His Excellency, Governor Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, has declared Friday, April 12th, 2024, as a work-free day in Katsina State.
“The decision to declare Friday as a work-free day is in line with the Federal Government’s gesture of extending the Eid al-Fitr public holidays to Thursday, April 11th.
“Governor Dikko Radda’s administration has taken this step to allow the workers in the state to fully enjoy the Eid al-Fitr celebrations with their families.
“Governor Radda extends his warm wishes to the good people of Katsina State for a joyous and peaceful Eid al-Fitr celebration. He further urges everyone to remain vigilant and pray for peace to prevail in the state and the nation as a whole during this year’s Eid al-Fitr festivities.”
According to multiple sources, the governor also freed 222 inmates in the spirit of celebration.
