FCT Police Arrest Notorious Kidnapper, Rescues Victims in Successful Operation

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has successfully apprehended a notorious kidnapper named Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, Aso Naija Reports.

This achievement comes shortly after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike offered a N20 million reward for the capture of Abdulkadir and another wanted kidnapper, Abu Ibrahim.

On Friday, February 16, 2024, FCT Police Commissioner CP Benneth Igwe confirmed the arrest of Abdulkadir during a press briefing at the command headquarters.

Igwe explained that the arrest followed a raid on kidnappers’ camps located at the border of Nasarawa and Abuja, near the Kuje area council.

The operation took place around midnight on Thursday when the police encountered the bandits.

A fierce gun battle ensued , but eventually, the FCT police overpowered the criminals.

CP Igwe stated, “As part of our ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities within the Territory, the Anti-kidnapping unit of the FCT Police Command conducted a raid on two kidnappers’ camps situated at the border of Nasarawa and Abuja, near the Kuje area council.

The operation took place on February 15, 2024, at approximately 12 am. During the raid, we disbanded the camps and apprehended Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, who is the leader of the gang and one of the wanted suspects that were paraded by the Police Command on February 14, 2024.”

Furthermore, CP Igwe revealed that the bandits opened fire on the police when they spotted their presence.

However, after an intense exchange of gunfire, the police emerged victorious.

As a result, two previously abducted individuals, Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, who had been taken from Kwaita village in the Pegi district of Kuje area council, were rescued unharmed.

Additionally, preliminary investigations conducted by the command indicate that the suspect, Abdulkadir, was responsible for orchestrating the kidnapping and murder of Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of the Ketti community in AMAC.

CP Igwe expressed his satisfaction with the arrest, describing it as a significant achievement for both the police command and the FCT administration.
