The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will hold fresh elections in 59 polling units in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State on Saturday, November 18, 2023, Aso Naija Reports.

This decision was made following reports of incidents in several locations in the state where result sheets were completed before voting began.

The most critical incident occurred in nine out of ten wards in Ogori/Magongo LGA. Similar incidents were also reported in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, and Okene.

Results from the affected polling units have been accounted for in the relevant forms, but the election in the remaining nine wards of Ogori/Magongo LGA involving 59 polling units and 15,136 registered voters remains suspended.

In accordance with the Electoral Act and INEC Regulations and Guidelines, a fresh election will be conducted on November 18, 2023, in the affected polling units.

It is worth noting that as of Sunday evening, election results from 18 out of the 21 local government areas in the state have been collated.
