ASUU Joins NLC and TUC, Announces Nationwide Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has decided to join the nationwide strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Aso Naija Reports.

Starting from Monday midnight, November 13, ASUU members are directed to participate in the strike.

In a letter addressed to all union zonal coordinators and branch chairpersons, ASUU President Prof Emmanuel Osodeke stated that as an affiliate of NLC, it is important for ASUU to support and protect the interests of Nigerian workers and the leadership of the union.

He urged the zonal coordinators and branch chairpersons to mobilize members for active participation in the strike.

This action comes after NLC and TUC initiated a nationwide strike last week in response to the mistreatment of NLC President Joe Ajaero during a workers’ protest in Imo State. ASUU is now joining forces with these unions to show solidarity and unity in their demands.
