Colombian Woman Expecting 20th Child Plans to Continue Giving Birth, Says It Is Profitable
Martha acknowledges that she does not know who the fathers of her children are, as she has conceived each child with different men.
Martha sees motherhood as a practical business endeavor, considering the financial support she receives from the government for each child. However, due to the large number of children she has, the financial assistance she receives barely covers the costs associated with raising and caring for them. The government provides Martha with approximately $76 for her oldest children and around $30.50 for the youngest ones.
Each month, she receives around $510 from the Colombian state to support her children.
In addition to government support, Martha also receives assistance from her local church and neighbors.
Despite the challenges posed by having many children, Martha plans to continue expanding her family until her body no longer allows it. She believes that her current children will eventually leave home as they grow up.
However, Martha acknowledges that life in their small three-bedroom house can be extremely challenging, with the eldest child having to sleep on the sofa.
She sometimes struggles to provide adequate meals for everyone due to the limitations of her budget.
Nevertheless, Martha views having more children as a profitable endeavor for her.
