Drug Dealers Turns Into Zombie After Taking Substances Made From Human Skeleton
Known as “Kush,” this drug is a blend of herbs, toxic chemicals, and even human bones. Despite its illegal status in Sierra Leone, it has gained significant popularity among young people, mainly due to its affordable price of just 20p per joint.
Users claim that Kush transports them to an entirely different world, where they lose their sense of identity.
The drug is readily available for purchase and sale on the streets of Freetown, the capital city, despite its legal prohibition. The precise composition of Kush remains a mystery, as it varies from one batch to another. Opioids like fentanyl are frequently detected in these joints, along with a mixture of herbs and ground-up human bones.
According to medical experts, the bones used in Kush production contain traces of sulfur that can enhance the drug’s effects. Locals claim that dealers have resorted to breaking into numerous graves, stealing skeletons to utilize as an ingredient for the drug.
The detrimental impact of Kush is evident in the story of Abu Bakhar, a 25-year-old aspiring musician who was forced to abandon his dreams due to the drug’s influence, rendering him virtually lifeless.
Abu Bakhar shared with Channel 4 News the profound consequences of his addiction, revealing how drugs had hindered his focus on music, education, writing, and virtually everything else.
Similar to Abu Bakhar, many Kush addicts have lost their homes and now reside in a landfill site on the outskirts of Freetown.
Reportedly, over a thousand individuals scavenge the rubbish dump, searching for anything valuable that they can sell to fund their Kush habit.
Alhaji, another victim of Kush, recalls becoming addicted after consuming just one joint of this enigmatic zombie drug.
He recounts his initial experience, stating, “I went to the ghetto to purchase another one and smoke it. I thought, ‘This is so enjoyable, can I have more?’ And that’s how I became an addict.” Alhaji expresses his desire to quit and prays for assistance.
The drug has shattered the aspirations of individuals like him, derailing their plans for a better future.
For instance, Amara Kallon, 21, shares that she used to smoke marijuana on a regular basis until she was introduced to Kush by her friends and turned into a Zombie. Since then, she has never turned back.
The situation in Sierra Leone is dire, with the proliferation of Kush wreaking havoc on the lives and dreams of its young population. Urgent measures are needed to address this epidemic and offer support to those trapped in the grip of addiction.
