Five Akeredolu’s Men Quit Aiyedatiwa’s Cabinet, Discord Surfaces
Aso Naija had reported that Akeredolu’s deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, took office as the new Governor of Ondo State shortly after Akeredolu’s death was announced. Akeredolu, who had been battling prostate cancer for a long time, passed away in Germany where he was undergoing treatment.
After Aiyedatiwa assumed the governorship, several of Akeredolu’s aides submitted their resignation letters. Among those who resigned were Richard Olatunde, Akeredolu’s Chief Press Secretary, and Dare Aragbaye, the former governor’s Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties.

Others who tendered their resignations include Aminu Raimi, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing; Olawale Abolade, the Special Assistant on Photography; and Dr Doyin Odebowale, the Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy.
Subsequently, the resignations indicate that these individuals were unwilling to work under the new governor, with some of them citing their loyalty to Akeredolu as the reason for their decision to step down.
Aminu Raimi, in his resignation letter addressed to the office of the Secretary to the State Government, stated that his conscience dictated his resignation. He expressed gratitude to Akeredolu and the people of the state for the opportunities he had been given to serve in various capacities.
There were reports of discord within the cabinet prior to Akeredolu’s passing.
