“I begged Olamide for two years before he agreed to sign me” – Asake
According to the artist, he persistently implored Olamide for over two years before finally being signed to the renowned record label.
Recalling the pivotal moment, Asake narrated how he invited the “Mr Money” singer to his residence and expressed his desire to join the YBNL family. In response, Olamide advised him to seek legal counsel and thoroughly comprehend the terms and conditions of the agreement. However, fueled by his eagerness, Asake disregarded this advice and promptly affixed his signature to the contract.
During an interview with Hip TV, Asake shared, “I had been pleading with Baddo [Olamide] since 2020 before he eventually signed me. One day, I paid a visit to his house, and that’s when he surprised me. This is how he sealed the deal. He approached me and asked, ‘How are you, Asake?’ I responded, saying I was fine. Then he asked me, ‘Would you like to join YBNL?’
“The gravity of this moment cannot be overstated—being asked that question by someone you admire, respect, and yearn to meet. I immediately expressed my readiness. However, he advised me to think it over and consult a lawyer. Yet, I implored him, saying, ‘Baba, please sign me now. I don’t need a lawyer. I have such immense love for the YBNL family, even from a distance.'”
Through his persistence and unwavering passion, Asake eventually realized his dream of being signed to YBNL Nation, a milestone he had eagerly pursued for an extended period.
