Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court found Bobrisky guilty of Naira abuse, leading to his sentencing on Friday.
During the court proceedings, Bobrisky identified himself as a male, which influenced the decision to place him in a male-designated facility.
The correctional service ( NCoS ) in Lagos confirmed that they would abide by the information presented in court. A spokesperson for the service stated, “Since he admitted to being a male in court, then we have to abide by what was submitted in court.”
Considering concerns about Bobrisky’s safety due to his gender identity, the correctional officers have assured that he will be adequately protected against any potential harm.
The spokesperson addressed worries about his vulnerability, stating, “He shouldn’t be afraid of sexual assault from other male inmates because our men can provide him with protection.”
Despite being in custody, Bobrisky’s social media activity continues to attract attention. I
n a recent Instagram video where he posed suggestively, he shared updates on his gender transition journey with his five million followers.
He expressed satisfaction with his transition, stating, “My journey transitioning into a woman has been going smoothly. I have encountered no health issues, and everything is going well for me.”
