Katsina Elders’ Forum Opposes Planned Relocation of Critical Projects, Warns President Tinubu of Potential Consequences
The forum has urged President Tinubu to reconsider this decision, warning that he risks losing support from the northern region in the 2027 elections if he proceeds with the plans.
Following a closed-door meeting, the forum’s secretary, Aliyu Mohammed, expressed concerns about the potential socio-economic consequences for Northern Nigeria.
He accused certain individuals of providing misguided advice to President Tinubu and referred to them as enemies of Nigeria who seek to undermine the country’s unity.
Furthermore, the forum criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for allegedly aligning with the federal government’s relocation plans for critical projects.
They also questioned why he is seeking Israeli assistance for security in Abuja.
Highlighting the urgent need for President Tinubu to prioritize addressing the security challenges in the North, the forum emphasized that if key institutions are moved to Lagos amid the prevailing insecurity in the region, the North will not be inclined to support him in the 2027 elections.
In conclusion, the forum sent a clear message to President Tinubu, urging him to reverse these unconstitutional decisions if he is interested in seeking re-election in 2027 and securing the votes of Northerners. They considered anyone advising him to make such decisions as an enemy of the country.
