Strike can End In Two Days – ASUU President Slams FG
The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Emmanuel Osodeke has accused the federal government of not taking the union’s demands seriously.
Speaking on Wednesday, Osodeke said the union members’ strike could only end in a day or two if the Nigerian government takes action.
He alleges that the strike took place because the government simply did not want to respond to ASUU’s demands.
Speaking about the government’s decision through Labor Minister Chris Ngige to take the striking union to court, Osodeke criticized the government saying its action was a bad decision made with malicious intent.
“But they are playing with everything. Why will a minister of labour be going to court when the pro-chancellors are having interaction with the president who promised to get back.
“If you force lecturers to class, how are you sure you will have the best of teaching and research? This can be resolved in one day if the federal government is interested,” the ASUU president maintained during an interview with Arise TV.
