FIFA and NFF Unveil $1.19 Million Mini Stadium in Kebbi State, Nigeria
The mini stadium, situated on Kalgo Road in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, was officially opened by Nasir Idris, the Governor of Kebbi. The project’s foundation was laid in September 2020 by Atiku Bagudu, the former governor of the state.
Funding for the stadium was provided through FIFA’s “Forward Programme,” which aims to offer comprehensive financial support for football development projects worldwide.
During the inauguration, Ibrahim Gusau, the President of the NFF, expressed the federation’s commitment to continue enhancing the stadium’s standards by providing additional facilities. Gusau also pledged greater efforts in promoting sports development throughout the country.
Gusau stated, “We are determined to improve the stadium’s facilities to meet higher standards. We remain dedicated to empowering our youth and encourage those who gain opportunities abroad to return and assist others who are emerging.”
Additionally, the FIFA Forward programme has also financed another mini stadium in Ugborodo, Delta State.
