President Tinubu, VP Shettima, and Aides to Receive N15.961 Billion for Travel Expenses in 2024

In the 2024 Appropriation Bill currently under review by the National Assembly, it is stated that President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their respective aides at the Presidential Villa have been allocated a total of N15.961 billion for international and local travels, Aso Naija Reports.

The breakdown of the figures reveals that President Tinubu’s travel expenses amount to N7.630 billion, with the majority of the funds allocated for foreign trips. If approved, N6.992 billion will be dedicated to international travel, while N638.535 million will be used for domestic travel within the country.

Vice President Shettima, on the other hand, has been allocated a total of N1.847 billion for both international and local travels. Out of this amount, N1.229 billion will be spent on foreign trips, and N618.399 million will cover local travel expenses.

Furthermore, the Villa Headquarters has been allotted N6.484 billion for international and local travels. This includes N6.282 billion for international trips, N60.981 million for local travel related to training, and N140.640 million for other local travel needs.

In the 2024 federal budget, the Villa Headquarters received a total allocation of N40.616 billion, with N12.497 billion designated for Travel expenses, N10.334 billion for overhead costs, and personnel expenses amounting to N163 billion.

The routine maintenance of mechanical and electrical installations in the Villa has been allocated N9 billion annually. Additionally, N4.5 billion has been set aside for Julius Berger liabilities related to routine maintenance for the years 2022 and 2023, including work in Kaduna.

A sum of N3 billion has been allotted for the construction of offices for Special Advisers and Senior Special Advisers. Another N3 billion has been provisioned for the acquisition, renovation, rehabilitation, and furnishing of the State House Annex.

Despite the budgetary provision for operational vehicles in the 2023 Supplementary Budget, an additional N4 billion has been allocated for operational vehicles, while N2 billion has been set aside for SUVs.

Lastly, the rehabilitation of the Animal Enclosure in the Villa has been allocated N45.259 million, and N130.076 million has been designated for the Villa Ranch and the construction of a wildlife conservation area.
