Seven Nigerian Opposition Parties Form Coalition Against APC

On December 6th, a coalition known as the “Coalition of Concerned Political Parties (CCPP)” was formed in Abuja, Nigeria, Aso Naija Reports.

The coalition emerged during a gathering of political party leaders at the National Secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Comprising seven opposition parties, the coalition includes the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Young Progressives Party (YPP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The formation of the team took place at the National Secretariat of the SDP, where leaders from all seven parties convened on Wednesday.

Earlier in November, Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 election, urged opposition parties to unite and remove the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power. During his meeting with the National Executive Committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council Nigeria (IPAC) on November 14th, Atiku emphasized the importance of opposition unity to prevent Nigeria from becoming a one-party state.
