Burna Boy’s Grammy Hopes Dashed as All Four Nominations Lead to Defeat

Despite being nominated in four categories, Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, did not secure any awards at the 66th Grammy Awards, Aso Naija Reports.

In the Global Music Performance category, Burna Boy’s song ‘Alone’ faced tough competition from Zakir Hussain, Bela Fleck, and Edgar Myer’s ‘Pashto,’ which emerged as the winner.

Similarly, in the Best African Music Performance category, Damini’s  ‘City Boys’ was surpassed by South African singer Tyla’s ‘Water.’

The Best Melodic Rap Performance category was claimed by American rappers Lil Durk and J Cole for their song ‘All My Life,’ outshining Damini and 21 Savage’s ‘Sittin’ On Top of the World.’

Burna Boy’s fourth nomination, Best Global Music Album, was also unsuccessful. His album ‘I Told Them’ was nominated in this category, but it was ultimately defeated by the World fusion band Shakti’s ‘This Moment.’
