EFCC questions actress, Simisola Gold For spraying and stepping on new Naira notes
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has looked into Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin also known as Simisola Gold, an actress, and cosmetologist, for allegedly tampering with the redesigned Naira notes, a violation of Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
According to a statement published by the agency on Friday, February 3, Omoseyin was detained on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, ICPC, after an intelligence report.
The statement reads;
“The 31-year-old was arrested after the video of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned Naira notes at a party surfaced online. In the viral video, she was also seen flaunting wads of the new Naira notes.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the EFCC on Thursday, February 2, 2023 for further investigations.”
The agency also stated that goods recovered from her at the time of arrest included a Range Rover and an iPhone.
The suspect will be charged in court after the investigations are completed.
