Bride Sets Husband’s House On Fire For Refusing To Divorce Her
Amina got married to her husband, Muhammed Auwal, about 5 weeks prior. She explained to the police that she resorted to setting the house ablaze because her husband refused to end their marriage.
According to her, they had an agreement that he would divorce her after the wedding. Amina claimed that she approached him and pleaded for a divorce, but he remained stubborn. Instead of granting her request, he allegedly assaulted her, which led to her losing her temper and setting the house on fire.
Residents of the community mentioned that a few days before the wedding, Amina expressed her disinterest in the marriage to her parents. However, her parents insisted that there was no turning back as they had already sent out invitation cards. Following the marriage, the bride sought the help of a native doctor to either make her husband hate her or turn his heart away from her, with the intention of prompting him to divorce her.
After paying the native doctor N12,000 for the task, the necessary rituals were performed. Unfortunately, instead of achieving the desired outcome, Amina claimed that her own heart was further estranged from her husband. She lamented that the native doctor had since relocated to Maiduguri in Borno State, and his phone number was no longer reachable.
The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident and stated that further investigation is underway.
